There was a t.v. series when I was a little boy.This was a time when tube t.v. was the living room fad.
One of the popular shows was about a young detective played by a then young actor named Michael Douglas.
That is my memory of San Francisco.
It featured the unique streets of the city that goes up and down.
Unmarked police cars with wailing sirens chasing criminals were flying over slopy streets.
When I got to visit San Francisco for the first time, the streets were what i remember on t.v. 
But there is one road that was apart from any of them.
It's that zig-zag road on Lombard.
Its a tourist attraction, I learned.
